DMBox

Frequently asked questions

What is DMBox?

DMBox is an AI co-pilot for tabletop role-playing game Dungeon Masters. It listens to your session (with consent), suggests background music and sound effects in real time, and remembers your campaign state so you can focus on telling the story.

Do I need a microphone?

For the live audio-suggestion features yes. You can also use DMBox in a purely manual mode where you type story beats and pick tracks yourself.

How much does it cost?

There are four tiers: Free, Hobby ($9/mo), Pro ($19/mo) and Studio ($49/mo). See pricing for the cap on each tier. The first 100 customers get a lifetime 30% discount with the DMBOX_FOUNDER coupon — applied automatically at checkout.

How do players join my session?

After you start a session in the cockpit, head to /share for a QR code + magic URL. Players scan or click and land in the player view — no account needed for them.

Is my audio sent to the cloud?

Audio capture happens in your browser. Only the transcribed text (when consented to) leaves your device. The audio itself is not stored unless you explicitly opt in to "Full" retention mode for that session.

How do I cancel?

Open /account in the cockpit, then "Billing." Your subscription will keep working until the end of the current billing period and you won't be charged again. You can also email support@dmbox.org.

How do I get my data out?

/account → "Download my data." You'll get a JSON file containing your user record, sessions, campaigns and audit log. GDPR Article 20.

How do I delete my account?

/account → "Danger zone" → "Delete account." Deletion is immediate and irreversible. Audit-trail entries are retained per Article 30 requirements but stripped of personally-identifying detail.

Where is the API documentation?

docs.html renders the live OpenAPI spec. Pro and Studio tiers can issue and rotate API tokens from /account.

What's your support response time?

Best effort within 24 hours on weekdays. Studio-tier customers get a guaranteed 4-business-hour first response.

How do I report a security issue?

Email security@dmbox.org. Please do not file a public issue. See SECURITY.md for our PGP key and disclosure timeline.
